Alice Bessie Bishop, 90, of Dayton, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Bishop was born in Rhea County on September 21, 1919, the daughter of the late John and Affie Stinnett Gravett. She was a life long resident of Dayton where she was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.  She retired from Robinsons Manufacturing after 35 years of service.

Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Bishop; sisters, Betty Morgan and Nell Gennoe; brothers, Junior, Eugene, Billy and Dennis Gravett; son-in-law, Billy Adams; and brother-in-laws, Buddy Hicks and Billy Brooks.

Survivors include her two daughters, Charlotte (Donald) Dotson and Jo Adams both of Dayton; two sisters, Leola Hicks and Lenora Brooks both of Dayton; two brothers, Frank (Mickey) Gravett and Paul (Lela) Gravett both of Dayton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home with her pastor, Rev. Bill Treadway, officiating.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 31, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home
