John Woodrow Poole, Sr.

John Woodrow Poole, Sr., died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga.

Mr. Poole was born December 9, 1926 in Sale Creek, Tenn., the son of the late John R. Poole and Clara Fox Poole.  He served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.  He was a member of the Daisy United Methodist Church and loved to play the guitar.  He had been employed with Lupton City, Olin Conductors, American Electric and Robinson Manufacturing Company.

Mr. Poole was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquetta "Jackie" Jordan Poole; brothers, Earl, Riley, Creed, Archie and Ed Poole; and sisters, Robbie Dean Higdon and Clara Wynn.

Survivors include his son, John W. (Linda) Poole, Jr.; granddaughter Rebecca (Peter) Conrad, and great-granddaughter Riley Elizabeth Conrad, all of Sale Creek.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Eldridge and Rev. Jim Purser officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
