Vera B. Holloway, 98, , died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Rhea Medical Center.

Mrs. Holloway was born in Bledsoe County, Tenn., the daughter of the late John Marshall and Lou Henderson Billingsley.  She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School.  Mrs. Holloway retired from Chamberlain Memorial Hospital as an LPN after 25 years of service. She later worked for the Rhea County Department of Education as a school nurse and substitute teacher.  She was a 75-year member of Spring City Church of Christ.

Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by her husband, Homer K. Holloway; and grandson, Freddie Holloway.

Survivors include her daughters, Geraldine (Finley) Bandy and Nancy Smith both of Hixson, Tenn.; son, Ralph Holloway of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Edna Parnell of Oneida, Tenn.; eleven grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Brother, Jim McCord officiating.  Burial will be at Spring City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, July 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spring City Church of Christ.

Vaughn Funeral Home of Spring City is in charge of arrangements.
