John Edward Sampson, 68, of Dayton, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Rhea Medical Center.  

Mr. Sampson was born March 27, 1941 in Miami, Fla., the son of the late Adelbert and Consuela Calafell Sampson. He was a resident of  Miami-Broward County until moving to Dayton in 1992.  He was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Dayton.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Scarcella Sampson; step-daughter, Janet D'Esposito of New Jersey; two step-grandchildren; brother, Anthony Sampson of Miami, Fla.; and sister, Frances Sampson of Melbourne, Fla.

A memorial mass will be held Monday, June 29, at 2 p.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Sam Sturm as celebrant.
