Mildred Ellen Ross, age 91 of Hixson, Tenn. died Thursday, June 18, 2009 in Chattanooga, Tenn.  

Mrs. Ross was born February 10, 1918 in Indian Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Harold A. and Adella Fern Lester Meiser. She was a graduate of Practical Bible Training School in Binghamton, N.Y.  She worked as a home missionary in Kentucky and Tennessee and then, along with her husband joined the Tennessee Mountain Missions where she taught bible in schools for 20 years and worked with children in summer bible camps.  She continued her work career at Bryan College where she was a food services supervisor.  She enjoyed sharing her cooking talents with students and faculty and was a member of the Red Hats. While living in Dayton she was an active member of Grace Bible Church.  Upon moving to Chattanooga in 1993, she joined Signal Mountain Bible Church.

Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Vincent R. Ross.

Survivors include her daughters, Ruth Ross and Rebekah Ross, both of Hixson, Tenn., Mary (Walter) Van Dusen of Evensville; son, Peter (Cathy) Ross of Elizabethton, Tenn.; sister, Kathryn Gilbert of Bason, N.Y.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vanderwall Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Phillips, Rev. Tim Schoap, and Rev. Jim Fickley officiating.  Burial will be next to her husband at Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Signal Mountain Bible Church building fund.
