James W. Riggs, 75, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman, Tenn.

Mr. Riggs was a lifetime resident of Rhea County. He was the son of the late Gaither, Sr. and Ruth Fry Riggs.  He was a self-employed laborer.  

Mr. Riggs was preceded in death by his brothers, Edgar, Johnny and Roy Riggs; and sisters, Lillie Mae Cox and Hazel and Hattie Riggs.

Survivors include his brother, Gaither Riggs, Jr. of Grandview' sisters, Mamie Brown of Spring City, Marie Lemons of Crossville, Tenn., and Mandy Dinkens of Ohio; and friends Rebecca and Dennis Reed of Grandview.  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Forgey officiating.  Burial will be at Ewing Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 16, one hour prior to the funeral  services at the funeral home.

Vaughn Funeral Home, Spring City is in charge of arrangements.
